This model have the same model number as the Samick guitar model SARC302
(Semi-Acoustic guitar, Rosewood fretboard, Chrome hardware)
It is the direct brother of the Samick SAT-450 and the Vantage 635V
I think those came from 1992 and later
Similar to the other poster, I too was blown away by the play ability, smooth low action right on the deck, and great pickups. I'm a guitar tech that toured with metal bands, and I had no issues pulling those tones out of this guitar. I played it for 5 minutes, and then walked over to the counter and said it's sold. I am also a collector of guitars from that era and earlier.
Your story with the salesman said these were made to compete with Samick....
Well mine has a sticker with a model number. SARC302S Punch that into google with the word guitar, and you get this.....

I bought an A-series guitar last week. A model resembling a Gibson ES-335.
Indeed the seller of Twigg music in Quebec City told me that these guitars were built in Korea.
I am also looking for information on that.
Very happy that this blog exists, bravo

VINTAGE Série A ES 335 GUITAR Cherry Red
100x mieux qu’Epiphone (100 times better than Epiphone)
Description
Super beau look, joue fantastique.... Tout original avec le case d'origine.
